The Fort Henry Gymnastics Club

Our Handbook

Philosophy

The Fort Henry Gym Club is dedicated to giving each child the opportunity to reach their full potential as a gymnast.

Emotional well-being, self-confidence, team spirit and sportsmanship are as important as the development of physical skills

The program promotes discipline, dedication and strong work habits in order to help each athlete use their own special talents to reach their goals.

Organization

The Fort Henry Gym Club’s Head Coach is responsible for developing programs for and instructing our children and coaches. Any questions or concerns regarding your child’s training should be directed to the Head Coach.

All Fort Henry Gym Club coaches are certified by the National Coaching Certification Program.

The day to day running of the club is overseen by our Club Administrator Heather Rivers and the executive, consisting of parent volunteers who meet on a monthly basis. Parents are more than welcome to attend monthly meetings where club issues are addressed. The parents vote executive members in during the Annual General Meeting in September.

Our gym club is continuing to offer the CanGym program for our recreational athletes. Athletes will be given report card updates and will earn badges based on skills.

Code of Behaviour

  • Athletes and parents shall show respect to coaches and support their decisions
  • Athletes, coaches and parents shall not criticize any other athlete or coach
  • Athletes and coaches shall show respect and courtesy to all competitors

Volunteers

The Fort Henry Gym Club relies on the support of parents to keep us in operation. Parents are asked to help with registration, publicity, promotional activities and fundraising. If you can assist the club in any of these areas please bring it to the attention of the Executive. Help is always needed and appreciated.

Membership in the competitive and pre-competitive level of gymnastics includes a mandatory volunteer commitment.
